It Will Not Return To Me Empty: September 2019 Update

It Will Not Return To Me Empty: September 2019 Update

We’ve always loved the promise of the fruit of God’s word found in Isaiah 55:10-11:

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

During this past month we have been able to experience just that! Read on to find some incredible testimonies of God’s faithfulness and power with our ministry work in New Zealand.

THE MARK DRAMA              Noah performing The Mark Drama at The University of Otago in Dunedin, NZ

During the past month, Noah has played the part of Jesus in The Mark Drama, “an innovative way of experiencing the Gospel of Mark and communicating it to others, performed as theatre-in-the-round.” This clear and evangelistic presentation of the Gospel has been made possible by a partnership between Steiger New Zealand and TSCF (Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship). Noah worked with the Dunedin cast from August 10-12 and with the local cast in Tauranga from September 7-9.

Performing at the new University of Waikato located in Downtown Tauranga

At the end of the 6 total performances in Dunedin and Tauranga, over 500 people heard the Gospel! In many of the 6 locations, people were hearing Jesus’ words for the very first time. At the performance at the University of Otago in Dunedin some non-Christian students attended who were invited by their Christian friends and roommates. After seeing the Gospel and ministry of Jesus acted out, many of them expressed a new interest in actually reading the Bible and attending Church for the first time!

Over the past few months, God has given us incredible favor and (quite literally) opened doors for us to clearly share the Gospel at the newly built University of Waikato campus in downtown Tauranga. During our last performance at the university we were able to openly invite 70+ people to meet Jesus, including staff and students! Please continue to pray for all of the people that attended the performances. We truly believe that God’s word has power and will not return empty! THE END OF A WONDERFUL SEASON

Ever since arriving in Tauranga, at the end of 2017, we have been given so many opportunities to use our gifts and skills to point people to Jesus. In addition to the awesome work taking place with Steiger New Zealand, our family has enjoyed being a part of the community and rhythm at our local church.

During these past few weeks, both of us have had the opportunities to preach one more time during the Sunday evening services. This is a wonderful service, as it is attended by many local young people discovering what it means to be a follower of Christ! The recent series we have been a part of is called “Right Side Up.” During this time we have been digging deeper into Jesus’ sermon on the mount and discovering what it means to be a part of the Kingdom of God.

We have so loved volunteering and partnering with our local church’s community for almost 2 years! God is doing an amazing things in Tauranga! If you would like to view each of our recent sermons, feel free to check out Wendy’s by clicking HERE and Noah’s by clicking HERE.

GIVING THANKSAt the end of August, the Steiger New Zealand team had the honor of inviting our local ministry partners to a special Thank You Dinner. During this time we shared our gratitude for all of their support and encouragement during the team’s 6+ years of ministry in New Zealand. We reflected on the past, praised God for the present, and shared the vision for the future during the evening.

One part of the future vision that we shared was about our move to Wellington to start a new Steiger City Team! It was wonderful to see people’s excitement for what is to come and to pray together for God’s Kingdom to come in this amazing city. It is so important for our family to know while we are going to Wellington alone, we are being sent out by a faithful community of people committed to praying for and supporting us around the world!

We hope that this update has found you well. We are excited for this new season in our lives and ministry!

As with everything we have done in our past 15 years serving with Steiger, we know that we can’t do this alone. If you are not already partnering with us, we would love to have join us in this new big step of faith. Please prayerfully consider partnering with us through regular prayer and financial support.

Thank you for all of your love, encouragement, and support. God is good!
